The Valley That Dances

Dragon Dreaming holds a special place in the hearts of east coast doofers. Held in the Wee Jasper valley — a stunning pocket of NSW about an hour from Canberra — this multi-day festival combines breathtaking natural beauty with some of the most eclectic electronic music programming on the circuit.

What Makes It Special

The location alone sets Dragon Dreaming apart. The Wee Jasper valley is surrounded by limestone cliffs, caves, and the Goodradigbee River. The stages are nestled into the landscape, and there’s a sense of being held by the land that’s hard to describe until you’ve experienced it. Beyond the setting, Dragon Dreaming has a strong focus on community, sustainability, and cultural expression — it’s not just a party, it’s a gathering.

TBC Connection

The Boogie Collective has curated stages and brought artists to Dragon Dreaming, and it’s a festival we hold in high regard. The organisers share our commitment to doing things properly — considered lineups, respectful land use, and a genuine focus on the experience over the profit.

The Vibe

Dragon Dreaming feels like a village for a weekend. There are workshops, a kids’ area, community spaces, fire circles, and of course, multiple stages running everything from psytrance and techno to ambient and world music. The crowd skews slightly older and more experienced — people who’ve been doing this for years and know what a good festival looks like.

Capacity

Around 2,000-4,000 people. The valley naturally limits numbers, which keeps the atmosphere intimate.

Typical Dates

Usually held over a long weekend in October, catching the NSW spring when the valley is green and the nights are mild.

Location

Wee Jasper, NSW — about 60km from Yass, roughly an hour from Canberra. The drive in is part of the experience.

Dragon Dreaming is one of those festivals where the setting does half the work. The other half is done by people who genuinely care about what they’re creating.
